The American WideScreen Museum's most prolific contributor, Robert C. Weisgerber, has delved into the annals of Cinerama and pulled out a promotional book created by Cinerama president, Hazard Reeves. In 1950 Cinerama hadn't managed to get the film industry interested in what was admittedly a complex and expensive new way to make movies. Based on Waller's enormously successful gunnery trainer, Reeves decided to approach the Department of Defense and prepared this hardcover book as a form of invitation to come and see a demonstration of Cinerama in action. It's an interesting approach to selling the system. (Note: All Cinerama footage was in black & white thus far. Only as THIS IS CINERAMA began production was it possible to shoot with the newly introduced Eastman Color film stock.)
